Robert J. Hartigan is a passionate young lawyer who aggressively advocates for his clients and gives each case his utmost attention. He makes client communication a top priority in each case, continually keeping clients informed throughout the legal process.
Robert attended Suffolk University Law School in Boston where he focused on civil litigation. Prior to and during law school, Mr. Hartigan clerked at a personal injury litigation firm located just outside of Boston for five years before joining that firm as a litigation attorney. During his time there, he handled various types of personal injury cases involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, traumatic brain injuries, PIP benefits, and claims against insurance companies for violations of M.G.L. 93A/176D.
In the fall of 2015, Robert completed a semester-long internship at the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. The internship was part of a Suffolk Law School legal clinic, which focused on OUI prosecution. During his internship, he second-chaired multiple trials on behalf of the Commonwealth.
In 2018, Robert joined Mazow | McCullough as an associate attorney where his practice is dedicated to personal injury litigation and trials.
In 2019, he joined the Massachusetts Bar Association’s YLD (young lawyers division) Board of Directors as the Regional Director for Essex County. Mr. Hartigan also serves on the MBA YLD’s Law School and Legislative Committees. That same year he was selected by National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 Attorney in Massachusetts, an honor given to only a select group of lawyers for their superior skills and qualifications in the field. Membership is by invitation only and is limited to the top 40 attorneys in each state or region who have demonstrated excellence and have achieved outstanding results in their careers in either civil plaintiff or criminal defense law.
In 2022, Robert received Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Excellence in the Law Up and Coming Award. Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Up & Coming lawyers are the rising stars of the local legal community — Massachusetts attorneys who have been members of the bar for 10 years or less but have already distinguished themselves.
Robert currently serves on the Massachusetts Bar Association Young Lawyers Division board of directors, the MBA’s Judicial Administration Council, the Essex County Bar Association’s Executive Board, and the Suffolk Law School Alumni board of directors. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.
Robert grew up in Saugus, Massachusetts, and attended the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, studying philosophy and communications. He played guitar in local bands and completed a music business internship in Nashville, TN, before attending law school.
